Surface treatments can be subtle or striking, adding drama, com- plexity and originality to your work. Learn to control and manipu- late the surface of metal, creating an array of interesting patterns, dramatic textures and rich finishes. Instruction and demonstration covers dozens of surface treatments including rolled, embossed, filed, engraved, burred, punched, scribed, and hammered patterns plus torch textures such as reticulation, filing fusion and precision fusion. Participants leave with a set of samples for future reference and endless inspiration. Prerequisite: Fabrication 1 or experience. ALAN REVERE is the Academy’s founder and director. He holds a BA in psychology and an MFA in sculpture. Alan is a German-trained master goldsmith, award- winning jewelry designer and author of seven books on jewelry. For twenty years, Alan sold his signature line of jewelry through galleries around the country. Alan is past president of the American Jewelry Design Council.
